Roasted coffee beans in close-up

Numbers first. Jargon never blocks.

Three moves. Dialed in.

Built for the morning at the machine, not for a spreadsheet hobby.

  1. Specialty coffee bag on a counter

    01

    Photograph the bag

AI reads roaster, process, roast level, and tasting notes. You confirm before anything else runs.

  2. Espresso machine and portafilter

    Get your numbers

Grind, dose, yield, time: translated into your grinder's own units. Oracle Jet, Niche Zero, Barista Express, and more.

  3. Fresh espresso in a demitasse

    03

    Two taps of feedback

Sour or bitter? Fast or slow? Exactly one change. Next shot is closer.

For people who already know what channeling is

SnapDial is a coach, not another shot logger. The rules engine speaks barista: roast solubility, process quirks, basket dose, and the honest truth that your Niche does not share numbers with your neighbor's Niche.

Natural vs washed

Naturals extract faster and can taste fermenty if you push them. We start one step coarser and a touch cooler. Washed coffees take the classic medium baseline.

Light roast density

Light beans are denser and less soluble. Finer grind, hotter water (around 94–96 °C), longer ratio (near 1:2.5). Under-extraction tastes sharp, not "bright".

Your grinder's dialect

"22" on an Oracle Jet is not "22" on a Niche. Stepless grinders get relative guidance from your own baseline. Built-in Breville dials get factory anchors with wide ranges.

Why most espresso apps feel like homework

  • They record after the mess. SnapDial gives you a starting point before the first pull.
  • They ignore your hardware. A 54 mm Barista Express and a 58 mm Oracle Jet are not the same recipe.
  • They ask for twelve fields. We ask for two taps after the shot: taste and flow. One change comes back.
